Client Story

“A nurse at my local doctor suggested that I get a MePACS personal alarm.”

Yvonne

Our client Yvonne cherishes her independent lifestyle in regional Victoria with her furry friends by her side. When she first moved here, a local nurse suggested that she get a MePACS personal alarm, and it has since become a vital part of her daily life.

Living alone means Yvonne has always been mindful of her health and safety, and the alarm gives her the reassurance she needs. “A nurse at my local doctor suggested that I get a MePACS personal alarm on my very first visit to the clinic. It’s an excellent service and a great investment. I knew no one when I first came here and would not have been missed had anything happened to me," she explained.

Having a 24/7 safety net provides comfort and freedom

The comfort of knowing help is always available has made a significant difference for Yvonne. Her days are filled with activities that bring her joy—from tending to her garden and crafting to sharing laughs over lunch with her local women’s groups. Yet, she remains aware of the potential risks of living alone. "I knew I had to keep an eye on my health and safety as I live alone, and it is so reassuring that MePACS can look out for me,” said Yvonne.

With her MePACS alarm on her wrist, Yvonne feels secure in every corner of her home and garden. A keen gardener, Yvonne spends a lot of time in her backyard and loves her independence. “Wearing my MePACS alarm all the time makes me feel very secure. I know it works the entire range of my yard and it’s great to know if I have a fall outside I can still get help easily," she said.

Yvonne’s friends also share in her relief, happy that she has a reliable support system in place. "My friends are very happy that I have a MePACS personal alarm. I’ve joined a few social clubs over the last four years, and we usually like to have a laugh over lunch. It’s wonderful to share experiences and have a common interest," she said.

Enjoying a fulfilling life

When she isn’t busy with her garden or socialising, Yvonne fills her days with crafting and making homemade goods. “I knit, sew, crochet and make patchwork quilts with hand pieced hexagons. I like to read, but really love to watch movies, research various things or play on my iPad. If I’m not working in my garden, I also make copious amounts of jams, sauces, pickles and chutneys – you should see my pantry in winter!" She says with a smile.

For Yvonne, each day is busy and fulfilling, and lived with the comforting knowledge that help is always within reach. She only wishes there were more hours in her day.

“MePACS makes me feel very safe in my own home and I can go about my day with barely any worry. Getting a MePACS alarm was seriously one of the best things I have ever done for myself," says Yvonne proudly.
